About Buttock Surgery

Buttock Surgery (augmentation) is a cosmetic surgery performed to improve the look of the buttock. A buttock surgery will increase the fullness, roundness and projection of the buttock, improve the balance of the body and enhance patients self confidence and self image. There is usually 3 ways for buttock surgery:

Implant – implants are inserted into each buttock. They are inserted either under the gluteal muscles of the buttock or under the skin and fascia.

Fat transfer – is also known as Brazilian butt lift. It is liposuction of fat from another part of the body, and injecting it into the buttock.

Buttock lift – A buttock lift is a surgical procedure, done to remove excess fat and skin on the buttock and reshape them into a more aesthetically pleasing form.

Buttock Augmentation Procedure

Buttock injections, buttock implants and buttock lifts can be done on an outpatient basis. All three types of surgeries take from 2 – 3 hours. If they are performed with other surgeries, it can take longer. The surgeon will mark the areas where the incisions will be made. The surgery is usually done using general anesthesia or twilight sleep (patient is asleep or barely awake). The incisions will be made either in the crease beneath the buttock or horizontally where the buttock meets the lower back. Then a pocket will be created to hold the implants in place and then the implants will be inserted in the desired location. Once they are in place and the surgeon is happy with the result, the incisions will be closed with sutures and dressing will be applied.
