About Hair Transplantation FUT Method

Hair Transplantation FUT Method is a cosmetic surgery performed on men and women who have a significant amount of hair loss, thinning hair or bald spots where there is no longer any hair growth. The procedure can enhance the appearance and self-confidence of patients. There are 2 main techniques used in a hair transplantation

FUE methodFollicular Unit Extraction. The FUE method is a new method of hair transplantation which follicular units are removed individually from the donor site, so this means that the follicles will remain in the same state and grow normally in the recipient site.

FUT method – Follicular Unit Transplantation. The FUT method is which a strip of scalp is cut and removed from the back of the head and dissected into tiny grafts.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) Procedure

Firstly the transplantation will start with the surgeon cleaning the scalp. Then local anesthetic is used to numb the area so the patient does not feel any discomfort. The surgeon will then remove 3 to 4 inches strip of scalp using a scalpel. Once the scalp is removed it will be put aside and the scalp will be sutured closed. The sutures will be hidden by the hair around it, so there will be no visible scarring. The removed strip of scalp will then be divided into about 500 to 2000 tiny grafts containing individual hairs or a few hairs each. The amount of grafts used will depend on the hair type, quality, color and the size of area where they will be transplanted. After the grafts are prepared the surgeon will clean and numb the area where the hair is going to be placed. The surgeon will then create holes or slits using a scalpel or needle and delicately place each graft in one of the holes. The procedure can take from 4 to 8 hours depending on the extent of transplantation.
