About IPL Photofacial Treatment

Photofacial is also known as fotofacial. Photofacial is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve the appearance of the facial skin. Photofacial treatment is performed to treat redness in the skin, discolored patches from spots or acne scaring, freckles, wrinkles and sun-damaged skin.

IPL Photofacial Treatment Procedure

Before the treatment begins the patient will be given protective eyewear to protect the eye from bright flashes of light. A cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area to lubricate the handpiece that the doctor will be holding onto the skin and to cool the epidermis during the treatment. Then the doctor will apply brief pulses of bright light onto the skin through the handpiece. The treatment can take between 15 minutes and an hour depending on the size of area to be treated. The patient may feel a warm sensation during the treatment. Once the treatment is complete the patient will be provided with cold compress to help soothe any discomfort.

Just like every treatment there is a risk of complications to occur in IPL Photofacial Treament which are temporary, most risks will fade away in a couple of hours after the treatment and not life threatening like

Trip Schedule of IPL Photofacial Treatment

The patients will attend a consultation with the doctor and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then be taken through a couple of tests that are required before the treatment, if everything is normal then IPL Photofacial Treatment will be performed. The treatment will take 15 minutes to perform but depending on the area to be treated the duration can extend to an hour.  Once the treatment is over, the doctor will perform a check up and if the patient is approved to be in a good, healthy condition and feeling good, they are advised with post treatment care requirements and are ready to be discharged from the clinic to their settlements. If everything is right, then the patient is ready to return to their destination. In some cases the patient may need to undergo a few more sessions.

If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the clinic the next day.
