About Breast Lifting Surgery

Breast lifting surgery (Mastopexy) is a procedure that lifts the breast glands and re-shapes the shape of breasts usually chosen by women after pregnancy, breastfeeding and aging for their breasts to look more firm and youthful.

Breast Lifting Procedure

Breast lifting surgery is done using general anesthesia, which means the patient is put to sleep and won’t feel any pain. The surgery usually takes around 3 hours. The surgeon will start the surgery by firstly marking the positioning where the nipple will be repositioned. Then the surgeon will remove excess skin from the breast and lift the breast tissue upper into a better place. Patients can also get implants at the same time while having a breast lifting surgery. Patients may have little drains in their breasts from 24-48 hours.

Breast lifting surgery is suitable for women at any ages but for better results breast should be fully grown and stopped developing before the surgery. The surgery is also suitable if the patient is

After Breast Lifting surgery

• Patients will attend follow-up visits to the surgeon after the first or second day of the surgery where the surgeon will remove bandages and drains in the breast.

• Patients can feel a bit uncomfortable after the surgery for a few days.

• To support the surgery patients will be advised to wear special dressing or bra during recovery.

• Within 2 weeks after the surgery the stitches will be completely removed from the breast.

Risks of Breast Lifting surgery

Like every surgery breast lifting surgery has some risks even thought they are rare.

  • Scarring – scars are permanent but fade away within 1 – 2 years. Rarely poor healing can cause for scars to become thicker and wider.
  • Change in breast and nipple sensation – sensation returns within several weeks but some loss can be permanent, (sexual sensation is not affected).
  • Difficulty in breastfeeding – after surgery, it is usually possible for women to breast-feed but some women may have problems producing enough milk.
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Reaction to anesthesia
  • Allergic reaction can occur to surgical tape or other materials used.

First day of Breast Lifting

The patients will attend a consultation with the surgeon and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then be taken through a couple of tests that are required before the surgery. If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the hospital the next day.

Second day of Breast Lifting

Breast lifting surgery will be performed. The surgery will be performed using general anesthesia. The surgery will take around 3 hours to perform. Once the surgery is over the patient will be taken to a private room where they will be staying for resting. The patient will need to stay in hospital for the first night after the surgery.

Third day of Breast Lifting

The surgeon will perform a check up and if they are approved to be in a good, healthy condition and the surgery results are all successful; the patients are advised with post treatment care requirements and are ready to be discharged from hospital to their settlements.

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth day of Breast Lifting

Patients are advised to rest and follow instructions directed by the surgeon. Patients can go on tours around the city and enjoy their trip to Turkey as long as they are feeling better. Patients must carry on taking any medication prescribed.

Seventh day of Breast Lifting

Patients will attend a post surgery appointment for a final check up and consultation. Drains and bandages will be removed from the breast. The patient will be advised on further medication. If everything is right then the patient is ready to return to their destination.

Patients must avoid heavy activities like bending and lifting. Stitches will need to be removed 2 weeks after the surgery. Patients are free to return to their destination and have the stitches removed there or if they desire they can stay in Turkey and have the stitches removed by the surgeon.
